Jiffy Spanish Lesson 16: Transportation

Welcome to lesson 16 of the Jiffy Spanish lessons. By now you have learnt quite a few phrases and if you have been doing your homework you will already be on your way to speaking Spanish. Today's lesson is all about getting around using transportation. As an experienced traveller, let me tell you theres nothing more frustrating than not knowing how to get around.

So you've arrived at the terminal, but have no idea when the next bus/train/tram leaves. So what do you do?

¿A qué hora sale el autobús? / What time does the next bus leave?

¿A qué hora es el próximo tren? / What time is the next train?

Just in case you want to ever travel by some other form of transport, you should know the Spanish word for them:

barco / boat

avión / plane

tranvia / tram

Unless you're in Germany, delays with transport are just a fact of life. Below are some phrases that will help you if you're transport ever does get delayed.

el tren está retrasado/cancelado : The train is delayed/cancelled

¿Cuánto tiempo se retrasára? / How long will it be delayed?

Buying tickets can be confusing when in a strange land, but not anymore:

¿Cuánto cuesta? / How much is it? (You should remember this from previous lessons!)

¿Dónde puedo comprar un billete? / Where can I buy a ticket?

¿Tengo que reservar? / Do I need a reservation?

¿Cuánto se tarda? / How long is the trip?

Un billete sencillo a Madrid / A one way ticket to Madrid

That's it for today's lesson. Hope you're really enjoying learning Spanish.
