Learn Spanish Online LessonsJiffy Spanish Lesson 4: Basic Conversations in SpanishIf you ever want to talk fluently, you need to start somewhere. With todays lesson, you will be learning the foundations of actually speaking Spanish. So you see a pretty girl you want to approach, what do you say? No cheesy pick up lines here (They're much later in the course :) ), just listen to the following clips and repeat. Hola ¿Como esta usted? / Hi, how are you? Hola. Bien, gracias. ¿Y usted? / Hi, good thanks and you? Muy Bien gracias / Very good thanks If you are in a situation that requires a little more formality, then the following is appropriate. ¿Como esta usted, senor/senora? / How are you sir/madame? When talking to younger women, or women you think are single, use the following phrase. ¿Como esta usted, senorita? / How are you miss? Here are some other conversational phrases you will be using often when starting conversations in Spanish. Buenos Dias / Good morning Buenos tardes / Good afternoon Buenos noches / Good evening ¿Como se llama? / What's your name? (formal) ¿Como te llamas?/ What's your name? (informal) Me llamo.... / My name is.... ¿Como le va? / How are you? (formal) ¿Como te va? / How are you? (informal) Regular / I'm Fine ¿Que pasa? / What's happening? Nada / Nothing much (literally zero) ¿De donde es usted? / Where are you from? Soy de ..... ¿Y usted? / I'm from.... And you? Soy de.... / I'm from ...... Ok, so that's it for lesson 4. By now, you should be able to start a quick conversation in Spanish. From now on, we're going to be looking at specific situations that you need to be able to talk about.
