Fortunately, telling the time in Spanish is quite straightforward, as you will soon see. ¿Que hora es? / What time is it? Es muy temprano / It's very early Son las diez y media / It is 10:30 Can you work out how to say "half-past", just by looking at the sentence above? Es la una / It is 1 o'clock Es la una y media / It is half-past one. Es la una y cuarto de la manana / It is 1:15. Note that in Spanish, you would actually say, it is quarter after one. Morning or Afternoon? In order to avoid confusion between mornings and afternoons, please have a look at the following sentences. Compare them to the sentences above to see if you can work out what is happening. El llega a diez y media de la manana / He arrives at 10:30 in the morning de la manana / In the morning Ella llega a las dos y tres cuartos de la tarde. Can you figure out what this sentence means? Nosotros llegamos a las tres menos cinco minutos de la noche. Can you figure out what this sentence means? Well, that's it for another day.
